People with diabetes may use several devices to help maintain their blood sugar levels:
- Blood Glucose Meters
- Insulin Pumps
- Continuous Glucose Monitors
Most of these have software that lets you get information from a specific device. But each pump, meter or monitor has it's own software, and none of these work together.
To use the software we need to connect each device to a PC, and they each have their own cables. These cables are not standard, like USB cables for cameras or MP3 players. The cables from an Accu-Chek meter cannot be used on a WaveSense meter or a Minimed insulin pump.
Currently the software for meters, pumps, and CGMs only works on Windows. So people who use an Apple computer have no way to download their data.
